Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers to help you understand your options and next steps

How much money do I need to show for a Student visa?
You need to show tuition fees for your first year (or remaining fees if partially paid) plus living costs for up to 9 months. Living costs are £1,334/month for London and £1,023/month for outside London. Funds must be held for 28 consecutive days.
Can I work on a Student visa?
Yes, most Student visa holders can work part-time during term (usually 20 hours/week for degree level courses) and full-time during vacations. Some courses have restrictions. You cannot fill a permanent full-time vacancy.
What is the Graduate visa?
The Graduate route allows students who successfully complete a degree at a UK institution to stay and work for 2 years (or 3 years for PhD graduates). There are no sponsorship requirements or salary thresholds—you can work in any job.
Can I bring my family on a Student visa?
Dependants can accompany students on full-time courses lasting 9+ months at degree level or above, or those on government-sponsored courses. You must meet additional financial requirements for dependants.
What happens after the Graduate visa expires?
You would need to qualify under another immigration route—most commonly Skilled Worker if you have a job offer from a licensed sponsor. We can advise on planning your transition from graduate to sponsored employment.
